What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth refers to the delivery of mental health services via electronic communication technologies, including video conferencing. Change of Life Therapy provides all services exclusively through telehealth using a HIPAA-compliant video platform.
How Telehealth Services Are Delivered
Sessions are conducted via a secure, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive a unique session link prior to each appointment. You will need a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private location.
Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth provides access to mental health services from the comfort and privacy of your own home, eliminates travel time, and allows services to be delivered to clients throughout California regardless of location.
Risks and Limitations
Telehealth may involve technical difficulties such as poor connection or audio/video interruptions. In the event of a technology failure, your therapist will contact you through the secure client portal or by email to reschedule or continue the session. Telehealth may not be appropriate for all clinical situations; your therapist will discuss this with you during your initial consultation.
Confidentiality
The same confidentiality protections that apply to in-person therapy apply to telehealth services. You are responsible for ensuring you are in a private location during sessions. You should not record sessions without the written consent of your therapist.
Location Requirements
In accordance with California law, telehealth mental health services through this practice are available only to clients who are physically located within the state of California at the time of service.
Crisis & Emergency Situations
Telehealth is not appropriate for mental health emergencies. If you are experiencing a crisis, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
Right to Request In-Person Services
You have the right to request in-person therapy services at any time. Change of Life Therapy is a telehealth-only practice and does not offer in-person sessions. If in-person services are clinically appropriate for your needs, your therapist will discuss referral options with you.
Informed Consent
This disclosure is provided for informational purposes. It does not constitute your informed consent to telehealth services. Prior to your first session, you will receive and be asked to sign a formal Telehealth Informed Consent document through the secure client portal. Therapy services will not begin until that consent has been completed.
