When love starts to feel different
Somewhere along the way, something can shift. You might lie next to the person you chose and still miss them. You might feel unseen, unwanted, or like you're always the one reaching. Maybe it started after a new baby, in the middle of perimenopause, once the kids left, or at a moment you can't even name.
Each of us sees the world through our own lens: a perspective shaped by our history, our experiences, and everything we've lived through. When your partner sees things differently, it can feel like they're against you, or like they don't really know you anymore. That push and pull doesn't mean you're a bad fit, and it doesn't make your partner your adversary. Often you're both hurting, just protecting yourselves in different ways. Together, we slow down long enough to understand what each of you is feeling underneath, so you can find your way back to each other.
What you might be feeling
- Lonely, even when you're in the same room
- Hurt by a fight that keeps coming back in a different outfit
- On edge, or shut down, just to avoid another argument
- Raw or far apart during perimenopause and menopause
- Wanting to fall in love again, but not knowing how to get there
